I’ve stayed at Courtyard by Marriott many times for work in recent years, usually at the Rancho Bernardo location. Lately though, I’ve been thinking of changing to another chain, as I haven’t liked the design and layout of the rooms (specifically, the desk and table, as I work in the room.) But my recent visit to the Marriott Courtyard Riverside Downtown/UCR Area was a real pleasure!
I LOVED the new layout / furniture / upgrades, compared to the San Diego location. The bed was FANTASTIC at Riverside and I loved the power options, lights, desk, TV and couch / loveseat / lounge-chair design and layout!
I have two ‘complaints’ though:
- Internet – Whenever possible, hotel rooms also need WIRED INTERNET! The WiFi here, as with most hotels, was only a small step above "okay". I want a wired connection where I know I can WORK (VPN to my office, remote control my work computer/servers, etc.). If a hotel had both wired and WiFi, I (and many others) would be very happy, as wired connections usually have better signal and service compared to WiFi.
- Dirty windows – I was actually shocked at how amazingly filthy the outside of the windows were in my room (Room 610). There’s not an amazing view or anything, but it honestly took away from the beauty of the new furniture and updates.
As for the staff, the girl at the front desk was very nice and seemed to care that I was there – that’s a big plus. At the same time, it was a bit of a ‘rehearsed’ dialog that I’m sure ever customer gets – but I understand, that’s just how it happens when you do the same job every day. Overall, she was quick, efficient, helpful and friendly
Overall, 9 out of 10 stars.
